Scale Factor
Given two shapes, the second shape with dimensions proportional to the first shape with a scale factor of k.
The area of the scaled shape will be equal to the factor k squared.
We are given the areas of two similar shapes:
A1 = 64 square cm
A2 = 121 square cm
The scale factor of the areas is k squared, so:
[tex]k^2=\frac{121}{64}[/tex]Taking square root:
[tex]\begin{gathered} k=\sqrt{\frac{121}{64}} \\ k=\frac{11}{8} \end{gathered}[/tex]Answer: Last choice 11/8
