Answer :
Anaphase
Anaphase is the fourth and the shortest phase of cell cycle. In anaphase,
1.Attachment of the sister chromatids break down.
2.chromosomes are pulled toward opposite poles.
3.non-kinetochore spindle fibers lengthen, elongating the cell.
Anaphase occurs both in mitosis and meiosis process. Cell division occurs twice in meiosis and produce four daughter cells. Meiosis I produces two daughter cells and meiosis II does the same.
In Anaphase I, when kinetochore microtubules contract, homologous chromosomes are pulled to the opposing poles. Contrary to mitosis, only the cohesion from the chromosomal arms is dissolved. As a result, the sister chromatids can coexist while the homologs are separated. Anaphase II is same as mitosis as sister chromatids get separated.
