Answer :
The events in colonial South Carolina history and how the government developed were:
- King Charles grants the charter to Carolina
- The colony is ruled by the Lords Proprietors
- Goose Creek Men create the Church Act
- South Carolina becomes a royal colony under the King
How did South Carolina develop?
At first, King Charles granted a charter for the Carolina colonies to be established in the American territories. This charter was granted to the Lords Proprietors who were eight men who supported King Charles to reclaim the British throne.
The Lords Proprietors then ruled the Carolinas and instituted several policies that the Carolina people did not find satisfactory. As a result, they wrote to the British throne to take direct control of the Carolinas and so South Carolina became a royal colony under the King in 1719.
The Church Act was passed in 1702 and made the Church of England the state church of South Carolina.
