There used to be very short prison sentences because it was seen that the short periods that the offenders would be put in the prisons would be able to get them the reformation that they needed. This has changed and has become longer because it is seen that it would not be of help to the victims of the criminals acts. It did not serve enough justice to them.

This is the term that is used to refer to the sentencing of a person to the confinements of jail by the court of law. The person that is sentenced must have committed the acts that would cause them to be put there. Some of these crimes would have to do with theft and murder.
