As you read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, keep dialogue and dialect in mind. At this point in the story:

Huck and Jim rescue two men, a king and a duke, who join them going south on the raft.

The king and duke, who claim to be royalty, briefly take control of the raft.

In truth, the king and duke are con men who go ashore and scheme ways of making money.
