What is a major theme that you think the author is trying to convey? Explain how this theme is revealed or developed in the novel?

Find one quotation or short passage (could be one sentence, or several) that makes you stop in your tracks, or makes you think, or makes you laugh, or makes you cry (or want to cry). Give context to the quotation by explaining who says it (it can be narration), who it is addressed to (if applicable), and what's going on in the book at that moment.
