We learned in the unit that our personal body image can be highly affected by outside factors. Things such as music, film & TV, advertising, and the internet can all impact how our body image is cultivated—usually, in a negative way.

For this activity, you will be asked to explore various types of media and analyze how they might promote a negative body image.

You will need to find an example of:

a song
a television show
a film
an advertisement (magazine or digital ad)
Each example should, in your opinion, have a negative influence on body image. You will evaluate and analyze each example in terms of its contribution to a negative body image.

You will create a slideshow style presentation to display your work. For each example you will need two slides (minimum), for a total of eight content slides, plus one title slide:

Slide 1 will be dedicated to showing the actual example. You may insert a music video or song lyrics, insert a video clip or still images from a TV show or film, and you may insert the actual advertisement or recreate it using graphic design tools.
Slide 2 will be your evaluation and explanation regarding how the example negatively influences body image.
Be sure to discuss at least three specific aspects of each example that you feel may promote negative body image. Explain why you feel this way.
You will be graded on the appropriateness of your choices, whether you fulfill all four examples, the quality of your writing in the evaluation, and the overall neatness and clarity of your presentation.
