The Electron Transport Chain is a series of chemical reactions in which energy is

transferred to form a large amount of what molecule?

Answer :

Electron transport chain is a chemical reaction where end products are to form large amount of ATP from NADH and FADH₂.

Electron transport chain takes place in inner mitochondrial matrix.

There are 4 complexes in ETS,

complex I - NADH dehydrogenase complex

complex II - succinate dehydrogenase complex

complex III - cytochrome b - c1 complex

complex IV - cytochrome oxidase

complex V - ATP synthase

complex I, III, IV takes place in releasing H+ Ion in the intermembrane of  mitochondria.

Molecules from Kreb cycle and glycolysis are used to form ATP.

The electrons are transferred from complex I to complex IV releasing H+ ion in the inner mitochondrial membrane, this to create proton pump to form ATP with the help of ATP synthase
