Noel Clarke wrote and directed Adulthood, a 2008 British criminal drama movie (stylized as AdULTHOOD). Starring Clarke, Adam Deacon, Scarlett Alice Johnson, Femi Oyeniran, Red Madrell, Jacob Anderson, Ben "Plan B" Drew, Nathan Constance, Cornell John, and Danny Dyer, it is the follow-up to the 2006 film Kidulthood. Sam (Clarke), who was given a six-year prison term for the murder of Trife, tries to turn his life around in the movie, but a new gang led by Jay (Deacon) wants to avenge Trife's death by killing Sam. Following Kidulthood's commercial success, plans for a sequel emerged. The studio chose to work with Clarke, making his directorial debut, to head Adulthood when Menhaj Huda, who had previously helmed the first movie, declined the opportunity. West London's production started in November 2007.
