As you learned in the lesson, December 25, 1991, was a momentous day—the fall of the Soviet Union. After many years of internal turmoil, communism had ended. Can you imagine how the people felt?

Your task for this assignment is to imagine that you are a journalist describing the scene in Moscow at the Kremlin as Gorbachev announces his resignation.

Your article must be at least 3 paragraphs and include:

Explanation of what happened that day.
A detailed description of what the scene was like in the city of Moscow. How big was the crowd? How did people feel? (Note that this is one of the first events in this course for which you can find archived video news clips to truly see what it looked like that day!)
At least three major events that led to the fall of the Soviet Union. How did these events inspire other protests?
What does this mean for the future of this country and other countries?
