You’ve been noticing that there is an unfortunate increase of bullying at your school – it seems minor at first glance, but you realize it is truly detrimental to the school community: students making “whispered” mean/hurtful comments about other students, students asking others to “copy” answers on learning material, even pencils thrown at the back of other students’ heads. You decide you want the bullying to end, you want your school to be a safe space for everyone.
You write a formal letter in which you use sophisticated language to increase your credibility as a rhetor, as well as evidence of bullying incidents to support your claims. You also provide possible solutions to the issue, which include a school-wide anti-bullying campaign that will require the efforts of administration, teachers, students, and parents.
Your intention as the author of this letter is to make it your argument against bullying convincing as possible to your intended audiences. Will the parents of students that read this letter be your primary or secondary audience?
