Proxima Centauri star is closer to earth.
The triple-star system of Alpha Centauri, located 4.37 light-years from Earth, contains the nearest stars. Proxima Centauri, one of these stars, is 4.24 light-years away and a little closer. Only two stars, Alpha Centauri A and Tau Ceti have spectral types G, which are identical to our sun, out of all the stars closer than 15 light-years. Red dwarf stars of the M-type make up the bulk.
Proxima Centauri is the next nearest star. About 4.3 light-years, or 25,300,000,000,000 miles, separate it from us (about 39,900,000,000,000 kilometers). It would take more than 48 million years for a car moving at 60 mph to get to the nearest star.
