The electron transport chain starts with NADH energy electrons and ends with FADH2-energy electrons.
Electrons are present outside of the atom's nucleus, in contrast to protons and neutrons, that are contained within the core at its center. Negative electrons are drawn to the positively charged nucleus so because electric charges of opposite polarity attract one another.
As an example, neutrons both have positive charges but electrons have a negative charge. In a test, it was found that each atom's negative charge was of the same magnitude as each proton's positive charge.
