With normal inheritance, all of the world’s human population receives an "x" chromosome from their mother and half of the world’s human population receives a "y" chromosome from their father.
The sex gametes for females have two X chromosomes i.e XX. On the other hand, for males, the sex gametes have one X and one Y chromosome.
Hence, in the case of normal inheritance, all human populations will receive an X chromosome from their mother whether it be female of male.
Based on probability, as male gametes have X and Y chromosomes, hence there are half the chances that a gamete will receive an X or Y chromosme from the father.
