Trajan's Column, a Roman triumphal column in Rome, Italy, honors the victorious Dacian Wars campaign of Roman emperor Trajan. The Roman Senate apparently gave the go-ahead for its construction, which was probably overseen by the architect Apollodorus of Damascus. North of the Roman Forum, in Trajan's Forum, is where you may find it. The freestanding column, which was finished in AD 113, is well known for its spiral bas relief depicting the conflicts between the Romans and Dacians (101–102 and 105–106). Numerous triumph columns, both ancient and modern, have taken inspiration from its design.
