Answer :

The nonspecific response to tissue injury or infection to protect the host from further damage is known as inflammation.

Inflammation is an immune response processed by innate immunity. It occurs in response to damage by bacteria, viruses, physical, chemical, or any other cause. The damaged tissue cells release some chemicals into the blood vessels. These chemicals include histamine, bradykinin, and prostaglandins.

These chemicals cause blood vessels to release a liquid into the blood and also attract WBCs to kill the germs. The liquid released creates a distance between the tissue and the germs to protect the tissue from further damage. The leukocytes, (WBCs), kill the germs and feed upon them. This is called phagocytosis. Phagocytes, after eating the germs, eventually die. As a result, a sinus is formed at the damaged site which includes the dead bacteria and phagocytes.
