Because the amount of carbohydrates consumed varies, the mixture of these regulators released following carbohydrate digestion is never the same.
The interactions between regulators are complicated. Any changes in the effectiveness of any of the regulators can reduce or increase the body's glucose absorption. Gastrointestinal enzymes that break down carbohydrates, such as amylase and lactase, may not be working properly.
