To turn a percent into a decimal, look at where the decimal point already is on the percent. Then, move the decimal point two spaces to the left.
For example: with the percentage 87%, the decimal point is after the seven, but it isn't written because there is nothing in the tenths place (so it's basically 87.0%). Move the decimal 2 spaces to the left to get 0.87%
Another example is 45.9%; don't get confused because the percent is already a decimal. That is not the decimal we want. Move the decimal point 2 spaces to get 0.459 as your equivalent decimal.
