Rudinow takes this second argument and sort of bends it around. He claims that the blues is a cryptic language.
You need the keys to the code to be able to perform the blues with authenticity. Ethnicity doesn't matter. What
matters is how well the code is understood and the performer's integrity when using the code/idiom in
performances. So if you have someone talking about how tough the streets are, but they come from a privileged,
suburban background, this might be a problem. Describe the proprietary argument and explain the experimental access argument.
