Information can be gathered from multiple sources. Some are more reliable than others. It is up to you to evaluate them. In this project, you'll do some research of your own to help you see just how many sources are out there.
You do not need to put a lot of detail into your outline!!! You may just include your research points and the main ideas you are going to talk about. The detail will be added in your final draft.
Picking a Topic:
Information can be gathered from multiple sources. The Internet is a good resource, but so are consumer, workspace, and public documents. Use a variety of sources in your research. Here are ways for you to come up with a topic for your essay:
1. Identify a problem or decision you think needs to be addressed in your school or community.
o Topic Ideas (Chose ONE to write about for your paper):
§ How can we help homeless people in our community?
§ How can we prevent people from dropping out of high school?
§ How can we prevent social media bullying?
§ What is the best way to help someone who is depressed?
§ How can a student avoid procrastinating?
§ How can we make education better for kids who have trouble in school?
2. State a clear position you wish to take on your topic, in your thesis statement.
3. Describe the problem clearly and come up with a solution or multiple solutions.
