Explain why all other systems in the body rely on the health of the cardiovascular system. Then explain why it is important to understand terms related to the cardiovascular system in an emergency.
Your heart and blood vessels, the parts of the cardiovascular system, are important because they bring oxygen, nutrients and other good things to every cell in your body. They also take away carbon dioxide and waste. This supply of nutrients and the removal of waste is the main function of the cardiovascular system

Draw and label your own diagram of the cardiovascular system. Include the heart, the pulmonary artery, arteries, arterioles, capillaries, veins, venules, and the inferior vena cava. Think about the pathway that blood follows and show its direction using arrows. Upload your diagram to your instructor.

For question 4a-b, refer to the real-life story of Aimee below.
Living with Congestive Heart Failure
Aimee, a former Marine and mother of four children, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure at age 39. She didn’t recognize the symptoms as anything other than being tired from everyday life. Once she was diagnosed, she learned to manage her symptoms better. Although some medications help, there is no cure for the disease. Aimee tries exercise in small amounts and rests more in between to not overdo it. She makes sure to stay active and is even an ambassador for the American Heart Association.
Explain what is happening in Aimee’s heart to cause her to feel so tired.
How is Aimee’s lifestyle different now than it was before she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure?
