1. Troy might have been able to have a professional baseball career, but the rule against blacks prevented him from benefiting. Is he right to be opposed to his son’s football career?
1. Troy seems to be somewhat cruel to his sons. For example, he tells Cory he feeds and supports him not because he likes Cory, but because it is Troy’s duty as a father. He also refuses to let Cory play football—even if that means blocking a scholarship. Is this tough love or neglect? In other words, does Troy do and say these things because he loves his son or because he doesn’t care about his son?
