Small businesses are the ones that suffered the most during the pandemic and the recovery is still hard and slow. According to the study, among different challenges for survival are marketing and customer relations,digital transformation and the use of new technology, remote/hybrid working, supply chain disruptions, government taxation and regulations, and others. The new worry this year is inflation and the Fed's mechanism battling it. Higher prices affect consumer spending and higher interest rates to combat inflation make the borrowing costs higher. In addition, the recent decision by the government to higher more IRS workers mainly for audit is also alarming to small businesses along with average households.
