Question 1:
The circles in the diagram represent points on Probability Ski Hill. Each arrow
represents a ski run that allows a skier to travel from one point to another on
the hill. When leaving a particular point, a skier is equally likely to choose any
of the available ski runs from that point. If a skier starts at point A, what is the
probability they will reach point D?

In this digital world, it is very important to have “strong” passwords in order to protect our personal data. The
difficulty is creating passwords that we can remember and yet are hard to guess from possible attackers. The
minimum requirements for passwords are provided for two scenarios. What is the probability that someone will be
able to guess the password created using the following minimum requirements? Leave the answer as a fraction.
i) Online banking: 8 characters: One character must be uppercase and the rest must be lower case letters.
Repetition allowed

ii) Email: 6 characters, last character must be a digit between 0 and 9, the rest may be uppercase or
lowercase letters with no repetition.
