Function: A relation that matches each unique input x, to an individual output y.

Identifying Functions

2. The x values that a function can take are referred to as the domain.

3. The y values that a function can take are referred to as the range.
4. In a mapping diagram, x can only point to a single y.

Example:
Complete the table by expressing the ordered pairs shown in the mapping diagram below
and then indicate whether or not the mapping diagram shows a function.
