Why did abolitionists split their support between the Liberty Party and the
Free-Soil Party?
A. The Liberty Party and the Free-Soil Party had similar aims and
goals, but the Liberty Party did not admit southern voters as
members and the Free-Soil Party did not admit northern voters as
members.
B. Both political parties wanted to eradicate slavery. However, the
Liberty Party was willing to wait for slavery to die out naturally,
while Free-Soil Party members were not willing to wait.
OC. While both political parties had the same major purpose of
eliminating slavery, they differed on how to end slavery.
D. The split between the Liberty Party and the Free-Soil Party was
over the admittance of Black members, which the Liberty Party
supported, but this issue was not supported by the Free-Soil Party.
