Albinism is a recessive autosomal disorder in which a person lacks pigment to give their skin
color. The dominant gene is expressed AA or Aa and the affected gene is expressed as aa.
Construct/Draw a pedigree using the following information:
1. You must show 4 generations. Label each generation with a Roman Numeral (I, II, III, IV)
2. Under each individual's shape place their name and the number that labels oldest to youngest (going
left to right) of all the children (not the spouse) in each generation.
3. Be sure to use correct shading for each individual that carries the trait, expresses the trait or does
not express the trait.

4. Remember to also label each individual's genotype. If there is a possibility of more than one genotype
then you must put both genotypes and a question mark (?).
5. Provide a key/legend to represent your symbols, genotypes and phenotypes.
Use the following information to construct/draw your pedigree.
4. Your great grandfather, Tom, married your great grandmother, Beth, who is a carrier for
albinism and they had 4 children. They had John first, then Mary, then Michael and finally Audrey.
5. Your grandfather, John, has the disorder/condition. He married Helen and they had two children,
Sara and Vivian, both are carriers for albinism. His sister Mary also has the disorder; Michael is a
carrier for albinism and Audrey (the youngest) is normal. Your uncle Michael married Kathy who is
also a carrier for albinism and they had 3 children - Mia, Kenneth and Avery (who has albinism).
