in their skills versus circumstances where they feel incompetent. To manipulate feelings of competence, she plans to have one condition (incompetent
condition) where participants solve extremely difficult logic problems that are nearly impossible for people to solve before they are given the medical
decision-making task. In the other condition (competent condition), she plans to have participants solve very easy logic problems before completing the
medical decision taking task. She wants to see whether feeling competent or incompetent impacts how much they rely on information communicated from a
doctor when making medical decisions about their health.
