Fossil Sites
For this activity you will become familiar with well-known African fossil Sites. I have provided for you a list of well known and important fossil sites. These sites are spread around Africa, Asia and Europe and will be locations where some of the fossils we talk about in class come from. I would like you to use your internet skill to complete this chart. The Site Code is the abbreviation used to identify fossils from that site. Some sites might not have a code or abbreviation. Key species are the species best known or most commonly found at the site. Age of the site should be a range or a general time frame for the age of the fossils found. In situ means found in the soil or ground (are fossil usually excavated from the ground), ex situ mean found on the surface (are fossils usually first found eroded from the ground).
