You are going to create your own 14 line sonnet in the style of "America" by Claude McKay and "Sonnet 29" by William
Shakespeare. In addition to creating your sonnet, you must be able to identify its rhyme scheme and the figurative
language you use.

Sonnet Requirements
• Must include a Title
14 Lines
10 Syllables per Line (Does not need to be in lambic Pentameter)
Has a Rhyme Scheme (ex. ABAB or AABB) and is identified using lettered brackets (ex. [a] [b] [a] [b])
Needs to include a turn/Volta E, I should be able to identify the shift in tone.
Needs to include the following Figurative Language and it is identified under the sonnet (refer to example below)
Metaphor or Simile
Personification
Hyperbole
*Use a "/" if you are quoting more than one line of poetry like in the Hyperbole example below.
