Photons in the visible light spectrum have wavelengths of 380 nm (violet) up to 750 nm (red). Use h = 4.136 x 10–15 eV•s in E = hv and R = –13.6 eV in the Rydberg equation to show that an electron falling from n = 2 to n = 1 in the hydrogen atom will produce a photon in the ultraviolet region. One nanometer (nm) is 10–9 m.
