Chantal, Minka, Riley were each asked to write a paragraph agreeing or disagreeing with a famous quotation. Read each student’s paragraph and choose ONE to score and revise. Place an ‘X’ in the column marked “My Choice” next to the student’s paragraph you’d like to score and revise.

Chantal
“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity.”
-Sun Tzu
I like this quote a lot it means that even in crazy or hard times you learn something. One time I was trying out for a part in a play and messed up my lines because I didn’t have enough time to memorize them. I learned that I should be more prepared and that was a good opportunity for a lesson learned. I agree with this.

Minka
“We will be known forever by the tracks we leave.”
-Dakota Indian Proverb
I agree with this quote because it is saying that every day we leave a footprint of who we are. For example my little sister is six years younger than me and I try to teach her something new or spend time with her every day. I feel like I am making a difference in her life and that will last forever. I also volunteer at my grandma’s senior center and everyone loves me. I left my footprint.

Riley
“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”
-Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa seems cool. This quote is good because it makes me realize that we can help others in small ways. There is a girl on my softball team who has trouble bunting so I took her aside and gave her some advice and built her confidence and now she is better at bunting. Another example is when I gave a compliment to my mom when she was having a bad day. I made her smile. We have help others in small ways.
