The Boston Massacre
occurred on March 5,
1770. It began when a
mob of colonists fought
against one British soldier
in the street. Tensions
between the mob and
British soldiers escalated
until several colonists
were shot and killed by the
British. This depiction is
biased towards the
colonists. However, it was
important for encouraging
other colonists to rebel
against the British. This
engraving portrays several
real victims of the
massacre, including
Crispus Attucks in the
lower left side.
