Main Idea Vs. Theme Task card #16
Charlie wanted the new Transformers action figure more than words could
describe. Every morning while he ate his cereal, he watched the Transformers commercial
on TV.
There was just one thing standing between Charlie and his action figure His
parents, tired of the messes he left around the house, refused to buy it and told him that
he would have to come up with money to buy it on his own. After a lot of thought,
Charlie finally came up with a master plan to get the Transformer, but it wouldn't be easy.
He had to mow the neighbor's lawn in order to earn a few bucks to start the plan. He took
the money he earned from the lawn mowing job and bought a new headband for his sister.
Luckily, she was willing to trade her old radio for the headband. He took the radio
and plugged in an old set of his headphones He then traded the radio and headphones to
Jim for one of Jim's old skateboards.
Charlie then sold the skateboard for $15 to the kids next door. Finally, he bargained
even more chores with his parents for a ride to the store.
It was all worth it! When he walked out of Target, he was the proud new owner of
Optimus Prime. His plan, no matter how complicated it was to achieve, had worked!
