More than 500 years before Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg changed the world through technological innovations, Leonardo da Vinci altered the course of history through his innovative thinking. Some historians consider Leonardo the greatest innovator of all time.
Leonardo was not only a prolific artist, but he was also a gifted scientist, architect, engineer, philosopher, and inventor. The term Renaissance man was inspired by Leonardo’s genius. A Renaissance man, or polymath, is a person who is gifted in both the arts and sciences.
Many of Leonardo’s inventions were predecessors to innovations that are a part of modern life. Two examples are the helicopter and the robot, which might have seemed unimaginable in his time!
