In a standard deck of 52 cards, there are 13 types. 1 – 10 (ones are called Aces) and
three face cards: Jack, Queen and King. For each type there are 4 suites; clubs,
spades, hearts, and diamonds. Clubs and spades are black, and hearts and
diamonds are red. Show all work for each problem.
1. Suppose in a game 4 cards are dealt to each player.
a. How many 4-card hands (sets) are possible?
b. How many 4-card hands are possible with exactly 2 of the cards being Aces?
c. If 4 cards are drawn without replacement, what is the probability that exactly 2
cards are Aces?
2. Suppose 3 cards are dealt out of a deck of 52, face up (without replacement).
In how many ways could the cards be 2, 3 and 4 in that order?
