There is no one right answer to why statistics is misleading. There can be many factors at work that have hidden variables that affect the outcome of the data. It’s up to us to see the data and come up with factors that could be hidden but still at work that we don’t see. It’s important to study the data, to see if there are hidden variables in the data or not.

But I still think, any statistics is good to help the decision-making process. It's good to see data before making the final decision. Any sort of data, good or bad is still useful to see trends. Data should be considered when making decisions, but more analysis should be done before any final decision can be made. Data at face value can be right but we should make sure if there is any hidden information that we don’t know about.
