Ancient mathematicians attempted to make sense of the world around them by
identifying and interpreting patterns. In previous units you studied linear patterns
where a constant is added to find the next number. However, not all patterns are
linear.
Consider the world around you. Have you noticed any patterns that do not follow
a linear model? Examine the situation further to determine how the next term in
the pattern is found. Is it found using multiplication or some other method of
calculation?
