In 1598, portuguese sailors landed on island called mauritius in the indian ocean. a previously bird which became known as the dodo, lived on island. the sailors caught the bird for food and released animals, such as pigs and monkeys. rats came off their ship as well. the pigs, monkeys, and rat preyed on the defenseless dod's eggs and chicks, and by 1681, the dodo was extinct. how did humans activities directly lead to the extinction of the dodo
