SITUATION: You have completed your initial career research, but now it's time to start your post-
secondary planning. Your counselor has suggested that you research different types of schools: 4-
year universities and colleges, private schools, community colleges and trade/vocational schools in
order to plan what you will do once you graduate. You already have your career in mind, but now
you have to decide how to get there.

Describe your chosen career path and the job outlook using
information from CareerOneStop, the Occupational Outlook Handbook or the Internet. Include
some of your reasons for pursuing this career.

Degrees, Certifications, Training: Describe any degrees, training and/or certifications needed
for this career.
• Education: Describe the university, college, private school or trade/vocational school you want to
attend.
Major or Program: Describe your chosen major or technical/vocational program and describe
the type of courses you will have to take.
My 5-Year Goal: Describe where you see yourself in 5 years.

You will use the planning graphic organizer on the next page to help you organize your research.
Once you are done with your plan, you will type a 1-2 paper explaining your post-secondary plan
using the information you have researched.
STANDARDS AND CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS: Your product must meet the following
standards:
Your paper must be completed in Microsoft Word, with appropriate headings that label the
required categories. It must be typed, using 12pt. Arial font and double-spaced. Sentences
should have proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
For this performance task, you will create a post-secondary plan using the information from
your career research project, CareerOneStop and some of the post-
secondary research completed at the beginning of this credit. Please include information
about the following:
• Admission Requirements: List all the requirements for admission to your school of choice (high
school courses, SAT/ACT scores, etc.)

Your research should be as thorough as possible. This plan should be a helpful tool for you to
use as you plan your post-high school career. If you have any trouble finding the information you
need, ask your teacher or counselor for additional help.
