1. Some people believe that the federal government should be allowed to impose nationwide
policies concerning topics like vaccine mandates, abortion, marriage, gun ownership, electric
vehicles, etc. Others believe that it is important to preserve each state's right to legislate on
these and other issues not expressly addressed in the Constitution as each state's residents see
fit.
What do you think? Do you believe it is better to give the federal government more power to
make sure every state has the same laws, or do you think it is better for the federal government
to be restricted from deciding what is best for each state? Why do you feel that way? What do
you think are the benefits and risks of stronger federal control and of stronger state control?
