Directions - Describe what you can do in each situation to help manage the conflict.

Scenario 1 - You are at a party and the person who is supposed to drive you home has been drinking. They say they are fine to drive and for you to just get in the car. They are not slurring their words or staggering, but you saw them drink at least 2 beers in the last hour. The other person riding with you also says it's fine he has driven like that before with no issues. How can you use your communication skills to avoid getting in the car?

Scenario 2 - Your friends all drove to meet at a movie. After watching the movie one of your friends is backing out of their parking space while talking with another friend in the car. They end up hitting another student’s car who was also backing out at the same time. Both drivers get out and immediately start screaming at each other. What can you do in this situation to help manage the conflict?

Scenario 3 - One of your friends who loves to write poetry. One day you read one of their poems that includes these phrases, “my friends are better off without me” and “there is no point in continuing this life.” This is very out of character for your friend. What can you do to help your friend?
