Optional! This is an extra credit discussion board. Do not post in this board unless you are interested in earning extra credit.

In this optional extra credit discussion, students have the option of either exploring exhibition items from the Library of Congress online exhibit, Seneca Falls and Building a Movement OR the New York Historical Society, online exhibit, Women and the American Story: A Nation Divided, the Civil War.

Option 1: If you're interested in learning more about the lives of women in the early suffrage movement, you can explore the Seneca Falls and Building a Movement Exhibit. (Links to an external site.) Much like you did in your examination of the Godey's Lady's Book images, look through the Seneca Falls and Building a Movement exhibit and choose three artifacts, one each from three of the four sections: "Early Feminist Inspirations," "Seneca Falls and the Start of Annual Conventions," "Family, Friends and the Personal Side of the Movement," and "A Movement at Odds with Itself." For up to ten points extra credit, in your 3 paragraph post, share what you learned from these three artifacts and connect at least one of these artifacts with something that you learned in the Women in 19th Century Reform Movements lecture. Remember to write a one paragraph response to two of your classmates.

Option 2: If you're interested in learning more about women during the Civil War, you can explore the resources included within the New York Historical Society's online exhibit, Women & the American Story: A Nation Divided, the Civil War. The exhibit includes primary documents, labeled resources, under 11 different Civil War topics. For up to ten points extra credit, in your 3 paragraph post, share what you learned from 3 different topics and connect at least one of these topics with something that you learned in the Women in the Civil War lecture. Remember to write a one paragraph response to two of your classmates.
