1. When the simulation first opens up Select Motion from the screen that says Forces and Motion: Basics.

2. In the upper right in green you will see 4 check boxes. Select all four, Forces, Values, Masses, and Speed.

3. Notice at the bottom you can change the amount and direction of force and the items placed on the cart. Spend a little time playing around with the forces, and different loads on the cart until you have a pretty good idea about how the things like mass and force affect the speed and direction of the cart.

4. Reset the simulator when you are ready to move on. (use the orange reload button) Click on Force, values, masses, and speed.

5. Set the cart in motion by applying a force using the blue slider at the bottom. Once it is moving let go of the blue slider to stop applying force. Notice the motion of the cart.

6. Now that the cart is moving try to stop the cart.

Answer the following questions:

Describe the motion of the cart once you set it in motion but are no longer applying force. (25pts)
What must you do in order to stop the cart? (25 pts)
How does this illustrate Newton's First Law of Motion? (25 pts)
Describe the speed of the cart if you apply a constant force for a longer period of time. (25pts)
