The following model shows Earth’s layers. How is heat flowing in the boxed area?
A model shows Earth’s layers divided into five sections. A box is located in the lower third layer.
In the bottom of the lower mantle, rocks heat up and rise toward the top.
In the top of the outer core, the material cools and sinks down in convection currents.
In the top of the inner core, material rises and spreads out, and iron and nickel cool.
In the crust, rocks heat up from below, conduction occurs, and the heat flows to cooler areas.
