you were asked to find the density of a block of aluminium. you measured the length, height and width of the block using a 30cm ruler which measured to the nearest mm (0.1cm) you then found the mass of the block using a balance reading to 0.1g you found out that the block measured 5 by 5 by 5 cm giving a volume of 125cm^3 and a mass of 336.2g
a) using the data above find the percentage error of the ruler and the balance. use the formula density = mass/volume to find the density of the aluminium in g cm^-3 and then convert it to kg m^-3
b) use your ruler 3 times to take the measurements. what do you think is the percentage error of the volume
c) look up the density of aluminium in a data book or on the internet. how close is your value to the data book value
d) explain why there would be no point in using a balance reading to 0.01g
