gest that almost any problem can be resolved in thirty or sixty minutes. Commercials
brainwash children into seeking quick fixes to problems, seeing products as substi-
tutes for rewards that come from hard work and effort. Television, above all, reduces
children to viewers, passive receivers of messages rather than active participants in
social interaction and social discussion.
