Revise the following paragraphs by restating topic sentences, deleting redundant or its relevant statements, and adding ideas and observations of your own.


1. Students face a number of challenges in college. Many will have problems making the
transition from high school to college. College presents students with new challenges
and many new distractions that can lure them away from class work. Living away
from home for the first time presents additional challenges to students who face new
responsibilities. All of these problems can overwhelm students facing a number of
troubles. Many colleges see as many as a third of freshmen drop out after the first
year, wasting valuable public and private resources. Colleges need to do more to help
students adjust to and succeed in college.
