Air Pressure Demo
Materials
12 oz plastic bottle, cap off
One small, round wad of paper
Hold bottle a hand's distance from mouth with bottle flat on side and opening pointing at your mouth
Place small round paper wad on edge of the inside lip of the bottle opening
Record prediction of what will happen to paper as you blow into the bottle.
Stand as still as possible and blow into the bottle.
Observe and Record what happens to the paper wad.
Repeat several times.
Conclude why scientifically you may have observed your results.
What pushed the paper out of the bottle?
Why was air moving out of the bottle?
Is the air pressure highest inside or out of the bottle?
How does air move when there are differences in air pressure?
What would happen to the paper if there was a hole in the bottom of the bottle?
