The major elements of culture are symbols, language, norms, values, and artifacts. Language makes effective social interaction possible and influences how people conceive of concepts and objects. Major values that distinguish the United States include individualism, competition, and a commitment to the work ethic. We need cultural diversity because without a variety of individuals of different backgrounds and walks of life being featured in fashion, we create a space that makes them feel left out/un-welcomed. We market that only a select few men and women are meant to feel beautiful or be stylish. This diversity affects fashion because the processes fashion manufacturers apply in making their goods often have disproportionate impact on the communities around them
